Happy Chinese New Year! It is the year of the Ox and we are celebrating - for 15 days!
We headed to YuYuan Gardens Saturday night to see the light fantastic! YuYuan celebrates the Lantern Festival, which falls toward the end of the CNY celebration, or otherwise known as Spring Festival, every year in great display. Come with us as we walk through the maze of lights - and people.
The tea house at the 9 turns bridge. There were all kinds of floats in the water depicting stories we don't know. Lots of ox around.
The place was packed and people were lined up on the bridge, traffic being conducted one way by many guards stationed everywhere, to see the spectacle on the water.
The crowds on the bridge are visible in this shot.
All kinds of extra booths were set up everywhere selling every sort of plastic ox, moving ox, fabric ox, ox horns for your head - just everything imaginable and unimaginable, and of couse, ox head with dumplings!
As they say: Xie Nian Kuai Le
Happy New Year!

Um. I think that's a -- well -- a goat head.
Shudder.
